Services
Their Challenge
LEC is locally known for its high-quality electrical services. With over 300 employees and $70 million in annual sales, the business shows no sign of slowing. All this growth meant that they were spending a small fortune on annual SaaS licenses, yet still relied on spreadsheets and other time-consuming manual processes to track time and performance. LEC realized it was time for a much-needed upgrade.
Our Solution
Saritasa worked closely with LEC to understand their challenges and goals with implementing custom software. A large part of this project was understanding LEC’s performance and bonus logic, and translating that into the software. The result was a lean, easy-to-use field service application that allows foremen to report jobs onsite and simplifies back office staff’s reporting, billing, and bonus processes.
Our Approach
What Saritasa Did
Tablet App
Previously, foremen needed to log their time on cumbersome spreadsheets that were difficult to fill out on the job site. That’s why we ensured the application is optimized for iPads, making it easily accessible and encouraging foremen to bill hours while on the job.
Simple UI/UX
Many of the users were used to the old way of logging time, so we aimed to make the transition as smooth as possible with a simple, easy-to-use UI. We spent a significant amount of time in the design phase to create a seamless user experience.
Data Organization
One of the biggest challenges for this project was organizing the business logic and data that are part of every job report. Each report can include hundreds of materials, ranging from lightning fixtures to wiring to outlet covers, each of which needs to be attributed to the right task.
Performance Calculator
Once the job and all materials are logged, the application calculates the individual’s performance based on a standard supplied by the client. If the electrician performs better than average, they are eligible for a bonus. While the result is simple, the logic was anything but, with various exceptions that broke the rules and needed careful consideration.
Back Office Reporting
Once submitted, job report information is immediately available to back office staff. This quick turnaround simplified and sped up reporting so that LEC can view all performance data in one place. This allows managers to identify under-performers and get them on track, as well as to identify top performers for promotions and bonuses.
